Now, you can normally buy these kinds of sprays at any local automotive store, but why do that when you can make your own at home? It’s simple, reliable and will mean a clear windshield all winter!

All you’ll need to make your own de-icer spray is some isopropyl (rubbing alcohol), some water and a spray bottle. Simply make a concoction of two-thirds rubbing alcohol and one-third water and place it into the spray bottle. Shake it up nice and good and just like that, you have your own de-icer spray!

To use it, just spray some liberally on your windshield when ice has accumulated and then watch the ice and snow practically disappear! Use your wipers to clear any excess alcohol and water and you’re ready to drive!

Other Ways to De-ice Your Windshield

There are other ways, besides creating your own de-icer spray, to get your windshield clear of ice. As we mentioned earlier, you can always buy some spray from the store or online. You can also start your car and use the defroster feature, but that can take many minutes to defrost your windshield and wastes gas.

Of course, there’s always the tried and true ice scraper. You should always have an ice scraper in your car just in case, and if you don’t mind a little manual labor, it’s a quick way to get rid of all the ice on your windshield yourself.
